The packs digitised here are from the USAID Northern Education Initiative Plus early grade reading programme:
- Mu Karanta! Jagoran Malamai / Littafin Ɗalibai — Aji 1 (Hausa). First edition 2016, second edition 2017, third edition 2019.
- Let’s Read! Teacher’s Guide / Pupil’s Book — Primary 2 (English). First edition 2016, revised edition 2017, revised edition 2019. English pupil-book lessons begin in Primary 2.

This early grade reading material for primary teachers and pupils in Nigeria is made possible by the support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Northern Education Initiative Plus program (Contract Number AID-620-C-15-00002).
Licence (as printed in the books)
The text and illustrations in this work are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
Under that licence you may copy, distribute, transmit and adapt the work as long as you attribute the original author or illustrator. The books prescribe this attribution language:
“Developed under the USAID funded Northern Education Initiative Plus program and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.”
The Hausa titles carry the same grant in Hausa, under the heading Hakkin mallaka da neman izini.
Licence verified against the front matter of each title we host — Mu Karanta! Teacher’s Guide and Pupil’s Book (Aji 1 Hausa), and Let’s Read! Teacher’s Guide and Pupil’s Book (Primary 2 English). All four carry the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. The books state rights and permissions but do not print a separate copyright notice, so there is none for us to reproduce.

Unless otherwise separately undertaken by the licensor, the licensed material is offered as-is and as-available, and makes no representations or warranties of any kind concerning it, whether express, implied, statutory or other. See section 5 of the licence for the full disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability. CloudKlass Academy passes on the material on the same terms and adds no warranty of its own.
Where the original books can be found
The licence asks that we link to the licensed material where it is reasonably practicable to do so. At present it is not, and we think it is worth saying plainly why.
These books were published by the USAID Northern Education Initiative Plus programme under contract AID-620-C-15-00002, implemented by Creative Associates International. USAID ceased implementing foreign assistance on 1 July 2025. As checked on 2 September 2026, the USAID Development Experience Clearinghouse at pdf.usaid.gov no longer resolves, dec.usaid.gov does not respond, and we could find no other public source serving these titles.
So the editions cited above — with their contract number, edition and year — are the citation of record, and the copies on this site are hosted precisely because the originals are no longer reachable. If you know of a working public archive of these materials, please tell us at support@cloudklass.academy and we will link it here.

What CloudKlass Academy is doing
CloudKlass Academy Ltd (RC 8629245) hosts a digital classroom copy of these openly licensed books on eresource.cloudklass.academy so teachers can open the day’s lesson on a phone, including offline after the first visit. CloudKlass did not write the books, does not claim authorship, and is not affiliated with USAID, NEI Plus, NERDC, or the state ministries named above. The USAID and NEI Plus marks appear only as required attribution of the source publications.
Changes made by CloudKlass
The licence requires anyone who alters the material to say so. We have altered it — in format and arrangement, not in content — and this is the record of what we did.
What we changed
- Pages of the printed guides and pupil books were converted to web images (WebP) and re-cut so a single lesson fits a phone screen.
- The guides were re-arranged from continuous print order into lesson-day units, so that one day’s lesson opens as one screen, with the matching pupil-book pages placed beside it.
- We added software around the books that is not part of them: a lesson and week selector, a classroom timer, and offline caching so a lesson opens again without a network connection.
- Only part of each book is published so far. The home page states the weeks currently available; the rest of each book is not yet on this site.
What we did not change
- The text of the lessons and the illustrations are reproduced as printed. We have not rewritten, abridged, translated, corrected or re-illustrated them.
- The teaching sequence within each lesson is unchanged.
- We have added no restriction of our own. There is no account, no paywall, no advertising and no copy protection on these books, and the CC BY 4.0 licence continues to apply to them exactly as it did in print.
The software layer described above is CloudKlass Academy’s own work and is not part of the licensed material. The books themselves remain free to copy, adapt and redistribute under CC BY 4.0, from this site or anywhere else.
